Snowy Days & Icicle Mustaches

October 26, 2011

I love snow. I can’t get enough of it! I don’t know what it is about it, but it brings out the child in everyone and I look outside to see grown men catching snowflakes in their mouth.

I am not sure if it is because I grew up in a small mountain town, but snow provokes memories in me that I may have otherwise forgotten. I look outside and am reminded of school being cancelled when I was a kid because of a foot of snow and dangerous roads. Somehow my mom and I thought that meant the day was perfect for a trip to the nearest town for shopping and lunch. We will just say this event did not happen only once.

I am reminded of the times when we got so much snow that my family and I couldn’t get out of our drive way. We were stuck, forced to enjoy the day and rest. My Dad used to cross country ski to go to the grocery store to get the essentials, like eggnog and fire logs. He would strap the toboggan behind him and I would ride along. My Dad would look back to check on me and I would roll around laughing at the icicles hanging from his mustache.

This morning as I enjoyed the snow I found a leaf that had an icicle hanging from it. I was taken back and began to laugh as I could clearly vision my Dad’s mustache with Icicles hanging.

My coffee pot will be on all day today, I am wearing my fuzzy socks, and I can’t promise that my Christmas station on Pandora will be avoided.

I cheers your hot cocoa to a day full of memories, rest and snowy mustaches.
